APOTHEOSIS117, welcome to the site a little over a year ago, sounds like a connection or a bad one.

 

I believe this might be the problem. I let my dad have a look at it and he said the exact same thing you did. I forgot to mention there is an audible clicking sound when it switches off and on.

I can't imagine how GM can rectify the problem in Canada and not even notice it in the US. Then again I don't think like a multi-billion dollar corporation.

Isn't it ironic that it is enough of a problem for GM to sue their vendor, but not enough of a problem for a recall.

 

Things are wonderful... Really... 27K miles and no issues. Also no issues with the turbo upgrade kit either... Anyone else want to jump onto the other side of the bandwagon?

 

The steering column and the power steering motors are two different units. The motor mounts to the column.

 

Or an overheated power steering motor, which is what I believe Apotheosis117 HHRs problem is.

 

Yea I'll come along for the Ride I love my car and it is performing very well, Have a couple small problems but my Dealer is taking care of me better than I asked for like my parts are here for the fixing but they are going to wait till they can give me a HHR loaner so I can keep working with out a problem while they fix my problems Not sure the Lexus dealer would do that,or anyone else for that matter. SO I'm another happy trails kinda Guy with my Chevrolet.

I'm just looking for advice/help and do appreciate all that I've received.

by the by. this is the first problem I've had and I got the car at about 20k miles. :)

 

Have a 09 51000 no trouble with anything, hope if the steering coluem is faulty its replaced by the General regardless of mileage.

 

Sorry, it's been a long time I have been here. Two months ago I had my car wrecked, but after they fixed it, the body shop test drove the car and it lost power steering. Had it taken to Galles, they found out that there was a short in the column that disabled the power steering. So, after a $1,000 repair bill and I came upon this. I had bad problems with the wheel shaking while applying the brakes and the brakes are good. I guess the column was the problem. Just going to add my experience here. Is there anyway I can get this bill reduced, I don't expect a free repair, just some acknowledgement of the blame.
