HD-DVD vs. BLU-RAY
I might be the geek or the group, but the new dvd standard is going to be awesome. Depending on how many of you own hdtvs, most of you might not care. I was just wondering what you all thought of it. I personally can't wait until I can buy an action movie in 1080p.

I here ya adam. I know there has been some discussion on the dvd standard, but I'm not as knowledgeable as you on this but maybe you can clarify some stuff. Now who produces BLU-RAY is it Sony? I thought (and I maybe wrong) that Microfacisit was throwing it's weight behind HD-DVD. To me this is not surprising considering it was Paul Allen who either started or financed HD Technology..

yea sony developed blu-ray (and incorporated in it the ps3) and hd-dvd was made by toshiba. They had talks for a long time trying to incorporated both formats into one (which woulda made one that was way better than either one alone, they talked instead of a 50g max it could have been close to 100g if they would have combined the technology) I personally like blu-ray better. What really blows me away is what optware is making here is a lil titbit from their site:

Man you guys lost me. I know I put the DVD in the tray and press play and the picture comes on the tv. I'll definitely buy a PS3 so I guess I'll get blu-ray whether I want it or not. I know I won't rush out and buy a new DVD player just to have the new technology. The one I have works.
