lol. Crappy thing is its the betamax vhs thing all over again. Kinda makes me mad people are so greedy they couldnt make a compromise within a year and combine both of their formats into a superior format.
I know there had been some serious discussion about this AND which would survive and be dominant. Read this just a couple minutes ago and found it interesting.
Maybe Blu-Ray will be the leader after all. read the full article and notice the names of the retailers mentioned.

I run/ran a video store within my larger store, so to me the most telling part of the last few weeks developments is the Netfix doctrine. Netfllix, the most potent force to emerge in video rental since Big Blue ( BBuster ) has declared HD-DVD a dead end in their business model.
No new HD-DVD titles to be added, all existing HD-DVD titles in a customers queue will be transfered to traditional DVD discs.
Another big nail in HD-DVDs coffin.
So in the race it seems Blu-Ray may indeed become their HD optical disc winner. But the real winner is DVD here because we are all so accustomed to buying them so cheap, we find them just fine for watching, especially with the fine upsampling DVD players making them look reasonable on HD sets.
No optical dic will replace DVD anytime soon since both the hardware and software are priced too high overall for Joe Six Pack.
Me, I have HD-DVD and Blu Ray and love them both, but buy more Blue than HD. Both playback systems are the game consoles, X-Box 360 and PS3, so I have no real dedicated HD optical players. For the time being , I like that just fine.
