Good for you SandyBeach!! Nothing better you can do for yourself or your children! Don't be ashamed of your weight. You are making the choice to be healthier and thats what matters.

OK Hillsdale, since you started this and I submitted an additional requirement, I'm going to committ to 5-6 pounds by the time I see the people at the Quad-cities meet. Here's my vitals.....

age....63
height.....6-1
weight.....185
BP......121/62
Resting pulse rate.....48
Total cholesterol........136
body fat %......17.4 (this morning)

I'm already diabetic (type 2 ) and I use 2 different medications to maintain my blood glucose balance (which do contribute SOME to the slight spare tire). So the exercise program is an attempt to prolong a happy life style and keep the diabetes from progressing to a more critical stage.

Isn't there a program on TV like this.......The Biggest Loser????

Good point about BMI fantomfreke, I was just using it as a guide post to keep an eye on - it is certainly not without its flaws.

What the heck, I'm in. My problem is I gain a bunch of wieght during winter, and then lose it during the summer. My excersise consist of helping my son practice for his baseball team, gardening, and landscaping. My job really picks up during the summer also, so that helps.
My info is:

Age....39 will be 40 on March 28th
Height.... 5'9"
Weight.... 185
BP has always been good, though I don't know the numbers
Cholesterol....last check was 211 but that was several years ago. yea it's high
Goal...170
Strategy....Take a Cholestorol test and see where I am. No junk food. Eat less for meals, knowing when to stop. Exersise is already taken care of. In the last 3 years I have given up all soda, tea, chocolate and anything else with caffine, becouse of stomach problems. (chocolate was very tough, and I cheat once in a while ).
