Maybe she was being followed by some nutcase and felt she was in danger and just ran into a house for safety. You scared her so much she ran into the house next door. That is what I would have done, and then explained to them what was going on.
Let us know what that was all about if you find out.
Glad you are all ok though.

Not in TX. You can shoot people for robbing your neighbor's house in TX.

"If you don't want to die in Texas, don't come to Texas and rob Texans!" Bottom Line!
I think that while everyone needs to be able to "shoot to kill" when there is no alternative, we all need to also realize that a reasonable resolution is to scare somebody off. Regardless of the outcome (and $$$cost) for going to trial, you will always be looking over your shoulder for some family member or friend of the low-life you put in the ground. I believe you need to have this straight in your head before the situation occurs.
Spear guns work well too...
In 1969 my best friend met a burgler in his home...at 2 AM...my friend was 15 years old...he was holding his CO2 spear gun...the burgler came towards my friend with a baseball bat...the spear went through the burgler's chest taking the burgler's left lung to the back of the kitchen wall...that burgler never robbed any more homes. For that matter, he never did anything else.

i have 2 9mm's. one in the computer desk(locked so my 2yr old doesn't get it) and the other is in my dresser drawer(too high for my daughter to reach) and 2 .22 6 shooters in my closet(hung in the holsters so my daughter can't get them).

When ever I go upstairs to my computer room, out back, or to the bathroom, I make sure either/or the front and back door is locked. For that matter, if I am not on the first floor, or in the house, the one or the other door is locked, or both. Three dogs in the house, or the yard, sometimes not all out. Also have a V E R Y nice Samurai Sword collection and know how to use them
Lived in the Mississippi Delta most of my life.. where
You kept all doors and windows locked! When we moved to TN. (a small town) people thought I was crazy for being so protective. You dont have to lock your doors they would say. My reply was and is... it wont be me or my stuff the paper will be writing about when the crime wave catches up to our small town. I dont want to lose anything to be told to lock it all up. Been there and done that in the Delta! Those same people lock their doors now!
