I've never got a chance to see it but I heard it's a classic. I have yet to see a lot of the older gothic horror films. Most of the stuff I'm into comes from the mid 60's - 80's. Unless we're talking about trash like the films of Ed Wood or Eegah!, then I dig stuff from the 30's - mid 60's. I like Frankenstein and The Creature From the Black Lagoon when it comes to really old films. About the oldest films I can think that I am seriously into would be some of the earlier works of Mario Bava like Black Sabbath, The Whip and the Body, or Blood and Black Lace. The only thing I can remember seeing that was adapted off of I Am Legend was The Omega Man. I heard their making an I Am Legend film staring Will Smith.

I guess if I had any time in history and place to live I would choose 70's-early 80's New York City. Then I could have seen all of the classics on the big screen during their first runs in the legendary 42nd street grindhouses. I wish I had a time machine DeLorean.

I must admit , your ability to quote the names of all the directors and such puts me to shame I am a fan of the living dead style as they are the only movies that could scare me as a kid, still have a nightmare once and awhile. I feel the same way about the new I Am Legend,at first I thought cool then I heard "Will Smith" and thought *%*#! Not that I dislike him,I just don`t want another Independence Day style S.Fi film with all kinds of catchy lines.
One film I am looking forward to is Grindhouse by Tarrentino/Rodrigiuez. Sure it might be campy but it selling itself as such going in. I have a copy of Last Man,if I can succsesfully burn a copy I`ll p.m. you to get an add to send it to you.

I'll admit, most of the stuff CH is talking about isn't quite my cup of tea, and I'm not really as much of an obscure film buff as he seems to be. I will only say this, though, and ask you, my friend: since you're into the cannibal thing, I can't resist asking if you own a copy of my all-time (and only) favorite cannibal movie, Trey Parker and Matt Stone's "Cannibal: the Musical." Enough gore for the gore fans, with a good shot of the kind of mentality that made "South Park" what it is.

That's my fear too! They can't take a great story like that and make another standard Will Smith movie like MIB, ID4, or I, Robot . It needs to be dark and foreboding and I don't see Will Smith as a dark foreboding type guy. As long as the worst doesn't happen and it becomes another Wild Wild West.

That is my most anticipated movie of the year other than maybe The Hills Have Eyes 2.

Yeah and I got screwed on the deal. I bought it before Matt and Trey blew up with South Park. I had to buy a rental VHS direct from Troma because they hadn't made it retail to the public or put it on DVD yet. I paid a hundred and something for it and then like a year or two after I bought it they cashed in on Matt and Trey's success and made it retail and on DVD for cheap. I don't feel disappointed though because I have one of their first run VHS tapes and it is one of the funniest films ever. I die every time the one guy flips out and sings "Let's Build a Snowman". The trapper song gets me every time also. Plus all of the little jokes like when Matt offers Trey fudge and asks, "Fudge Packer?". That film is great! I have all of Matt and Trey's films.

You don't like John Carpenters The Thing?!?!?!?!?! I love John Carpenter! He has a few mediocre films in his portfolio but every director that has made that many films is bound to have a few mediocre films. I love the fact the John Carpenter has done the score to most of his own films. That's why the music blends so well with the scenes in his films. Not to mention he is a master at atmosphere. I saw the original black and white The Thing From Another World when I was a kid but remember it as being a standard 50's horror deal like The Blob. Nothing really stood out to me. I think Carpenters The Thing is more like the original story Who Goes There? than the 50's B&W. The funny thing is right now they are remaking Carpenters The Thing so they are making a remake of a remake. I think Hollywood is starting to run out of ideas.

Slightly different genre but I found a copy of a low budget sf film from my childhood. The Giant Gila Monster,50`s era, combines my two faves, giant monsters and hotrods. Another one I`d like to find a dvd of is the original Them. The one about the giant radioactive ants. 50`s era also but had big name actors for it`s time.

The Hillside Strangler (Unrated Directors Cut) and Neon Maniacs just came in the mail. It looks like my wife is in for a night of torture.
