GM suggested list is $150 and we charge $136 to install based on the labor time to do it. We haven't done one yet but it has to be more then a simple programming based on the hours it pays to install.

I just found this verbage on the gm accessory site. This fob offers greater operating range then the factory keyless entry system, and can control a second, ARSS-equipped vehicle.

I am guessing this means if you have 2 HHRs, you could have 1 remote controlling both of them.

ChevyMgr,

I have a 5 speed which naturally doesn't have the remote start option. Would you mind posting why this won't work with my HHR when you find out? Thanks in advance :twothumbs

As you know the main reason is the standard can't be started in gear and GM doesn't recommend leaving it parked in neutral (neither do i recommend this), so without the remote start capability, the only use on a standard would be the extended range that the transmitters have for unlocking the doors or finding your lost HHR in a parking lot.

Maybe the new extended range remotes will available in the '09s, but I don't know anything on that issue at this time.

Sorry - I should have been more clear I know why they don't put the remote start on, but it says that the remotes won't work on cars without remote start. I figure it would be nice to have the extended range along with the tire pressures, odometer, etc.

Thanks anyway !

I was sure you knew that, the first of the post was meant for anyone who didn't. But maybe the 09 remotes will have the same range. I won't know until the service manuals are updated. I will post if I get any information though.

I found the instructions for installing this new remote and now I know why it takes 2 hours. You have to install a NEW antenna to the inside of the quarter glass on 2008's and at the top of the quarter glass trim panel on 2007s.

Here is the 2007 location on the trim panel:

Here is the 2008 location on the quarter glass:

This is a terrible picture of the antenna, but it's all I have right now.
