Sorry but GM does not offer an upgrade to the 06 and older C/K trucks/SUVs on remote start.

For the panel exclusion -- maybe the reason is the mounting of the extra antenna in the rear qtr window... would be a big ground plane to try and recieve a signal thru... just my

Why not use the entire body or chassis as the antenna?

Well depends on the rec frequency-- and transmitter power too -- even though you have a "BIG" antenna --if not tuned properly --will not do any good... would be like the old rabbit ears with aluminum foil wrapped around the ends --hope for the best at getting any signal at all... the electronics and physics behind tuning specific frequency ranges is very vast ... I have personally dealt with some here in the past with local fire depts 2 way radio setups and they can be truly a ROYAL pain in the BUTT.... Have not tested with a Freq Counter as to what these remotes transmit-- But I am guessing they are close to the standard 433 MHZ which is an UHF signal with the sub audible tones for the rolling code feature that some of the remotes have..
