Question for chevy manager or service techs

my wife has an 2005 Suburban and the service 4WD has came on a few time I really dont have any spare money at this time any ideas what it could be or how it might cost. i have called onstar when the message was on and the did a diagnostics and found nothing. any help would be greatly appreciated

I did a quick google search for you, and seems the most common problem is the switch needs to be replaced, about $40.

It doesn't mean you need service so save your money. It's a false light.

cool you guys are GRRRRRRRREAT like Tony Tiger is there a way to check the 4WD if it goes in High and low everything is ok?

ok I finally went for a drive and could not get the 4WD low range to engage it did go into 4High and auto but the front end seemed to make quite a bit of noise.Its been so long since we haved used the 4WD I dont remember if the noise was normal or not. Guess I should just brake down and head to the dealer just encase were planning a trip to the snow Next month with the kid dont wana get stuck.My in laws went up last week with the storm and there 4WD broke on them it wouldn't engage It was a FORD (go figure) lol haha but it was a newer one 03 i think so they had to get towed out to clear road Thank god for AAA

look at the manual, with 4low sometimes you need to be in park or neutral before you engage.

4high is usually shift on the fly, but 4low can be stubborn
