I have oak leaves piling up in my yard, though most are still on the trees. Those red oaks don't lose their leaves until it snows here, it seems. If I pick them up now, I will need to do them at least one more time, and probably a couple. If I wait too long they'll get snow on them. There is no winning this one.
I'll probably do some of them this weekend. A couple years ago, I hired a neighbor to chop and bag them, and we got 52 bags. So now they just get hauled off to the woods or mulched by the mower, depending on depth.
I have white oaks in the greenbelt the leaves never land in the greenbelt. They all blow into my yard. I found that the mower mulch works but the wind has to come in waves, and I have to get it done, or it's too thick if you wait till the next blow. Usually take 4 times each year. They are beautiful but such a hassle.
