Well let's see, there are 16 cups to a gallon, and I can drive about 400 miles on a cup of coffee, so that's 6,400 miles per gallon....take that Prius...Hah!

I have an 800 mile bladder most times, but to keep my traveling companion happy, we stop every 300 miles or so.

Are we talking about the cylinder heads, the motorcycle builder, or the aerial photography outfit out of Minnesota?

I knew what you meant Doc, but I had to egg you on. I was talking road miles, when we're airborne its usually about 600 Nautical miles to a leg/landing/refuel/potty stop. That gives me a 100nmi reserve before we hit fuel minimums/bladder maximums.

let's see....

30 gallons of LPG on board.... fly to 20% remaining.... that's about 24-25 gallons per flight....

depending on the wind.... that's 5-6 miles in flight.....

that makes 5-6 gallons per mile fuel consumption

YIKES.... never actually made those calcs before.

Hmmm, well let's see for me.

75 gallons of fuel on-board, fly to 20% remaining as the established minimum, that gives me 60 gallons useable + 15 gallons of reserve.

800 statute miles at 70% cruise(170 mph ground speed adjusted), so that's usually 4.5-4.7 hours of flight time per leg.

That makes 13.34 miles per gallon of fuel consumed.

Well compared to your balloon Doc, the Queen is a paragon of efficiency.

As far as relaxed drifting and hearing the birds sing in the trees, you got me beat though.
