Sorry slightly off topic Malibu not my HHR

I figure there is a wealth of knowledge here. Garaged the 2009 HHR with 87k on it for when one of the boys needs it. Bought a 2019 Malibu RS, Love the car but no XM, can it be added? I know I can run the app on my phone. I was just wondering if there is some kind of module that can be added. HHR has XM and I got spoiled. Thanks.

If you have a Best Buy near you ask them about this:

thanks, I was more curious if it could be like a factory module. Like adding features that exist in HHRs like remote start, heated seats, steering wheel buttons. I am dissapointed this car did not have XM but it has on star and is bluetooth, wifi. It would just be nice to not have to use the phone app and data.

Did you buy it used as a former rental? If so those are pretty much the only late model GMs that don't have Sirius XM. If it's not a former rental I'd check with a dealer and give them your VIN to find out why it's missing.

From what I've read the RS didn't come standard with an XM radio from the dealer.
Neither did the LT.
Funny though my first HHR was a 2010 LS and it had XM radio standard option.

Yeah it can be confusing. The HHRs came with a lot of stuff that are still not standard items, like remote start. My wife's Encore Sport Touring has it but some Encores with higher trim levels don't have it.

There were a few years with Sirius/XM standard equipment on all GM vehicles. Don't take it as fact, I think 2009-2010 except some fleet orders.

If you know how to do wiring and computering you could pt a junkyard unit in with some work and maybe BCM programming.

I found a pretty good page listing the options at each trim level. Looks like XM was only offered on the LT and Premier.

Thanks Doc. Yea my Girlfriend has a 2016 Premier and it has everything. I liked the look of the RS. Just would like a factory look and feel or I'll just use the phone app. I was suppried it did not have it while my LS HHR has it. I made sure the Malibu had remote start.
