Yeah, I was actually just reading this earlier today lol. I think it's about time they banned big rigs from that road. The NC side has had similar laws in effect for several years now and the road itself is just not made for vehicles of that size. Not to mention it's not safe for other drivers who use it when a truck is taking up the whole road trying to make it around a corner.

And here's where I make myself unpopular with our members who ride bikes, but motorcyclists on "Crotch Rockets" are as big a menace as the truckers were.

If you look at the number of bike vs. car crashes on that road, it's no wonder that bikers die so often, and so needlessly.

Car drivers aren't innocent, but I've nearly taken bikers head on too many times for my comfort. The suicide jockeys use all of both lanes, and there's nothing scarier than coming around a blind bend and finding a bike aimed for the center of your hood.

People complain about the high police presence, but they're there to try and curb the casualties. Thirty years ago, that road was sparsely used, and a great place to really give a fast car or bike a workout. Then the "Buff Books" and TV shows discovered it, and the death toll zoomed up.
