Want some Money off your Sprint bill?

Hey guys, I am always out there looking for good deals. I try to update the threads on here with XM prices and I am an extreme deal hunter online. I try not to pay full price for anything. So, I thought i'd try to help you guys save some money on your Sprint Bill. This is a long post, so bear with me. If you want to save some cash, read it!

I am not the one that came up with this. It is actually from this thread on the SlickDeals Forum. So I know there is a lot of info there (253 pages and 2,290 responses so far), so I will try to lay it out for you a little easier.

Basically, starting on 01/01/10 Sprint started charging you a higher regulatory charge. Instead of 20 cents a line, it is now 40 cents a line (per month). A small change, but a change none the less. What does that mean? They broke their side of the contract, and because of that you can get some deals out of them.

Here's a bit of what you can do
- End your contract right now if you would like, no ETF, just BAM, contract cancelled.
- Get them to give you a deal to resign a new 2 year contract, the common one is a $20 credit every month for the next 24 months. Yes, that is a $20 credit because of an extra 20 cent charge...
- Get your contract fulfilled (not cancelled) and go month to month and be out of contract.

So how you do it.
Call into sprint. *2 on your phone. The more options #5 then disconnect your services, should be #6.

These are the people that can make the deals, they are retentions, they want to keep you. Other CSR areas are not going to be able to do this. However, sometimes you get someone who doesn't wan to help, tried to just cover the extra 20 cents charge, or gives a crappier deal, or something. For my line i called in once and got it done. For my dad it took 3 calls to get someone helpful.

Read on the beginning of that post what you need to say. Basically I said i am calling because if the new fee, they explained what it means. You say that you don't like this and was thinking of switching out to another service. Now, it depends on who you get, but a lot won't let you fulfill your contract, I knew this and asked for it, wanting to get shot down, because I wanted them to give me a good deal. You might have to actually say the word "cancel" before they will do anything.

So, I got them to give me the $20 credit on my account, and I also changed my plan a bit and am paying $10 less for it. Not all plans will let you do this deal, if you have super old cheap plans or SERO plans, probably no go. But a lot will qualify. I have a regular family share plan. The whole thing took 10 min.

Now, I did this for my dad last week. He had older plans for 2 phones separate. So I had to combine them together on a family plan for him. Then I got him the $20 off, and then i also had them change his texting from $5 for 300 texts a line to $1 for 500 texts...

I called back in on my own line and got the same extra deal on the texting.

All in all, bottom line here. For about 30 min invested in time. I took my bill before taxes from 70 to 60 with the plan change. Minus 25% for a corporate discount from another deal. Minus the $20, and minus the $8 i used to pay more for texting, my plan is now going to be 26.50, for 2 phones, instead of 70... worth it to me. Over the 2 year course of the contract I will save almost $1300!

Now I can save up and get some LED tails... SCORE

If you have any questions, feel free to ask, and/or PM me. I will be calling this week for my inlaws too.
