It was...he actually took the time to talk to me for more than a handshake...some people brought his book with them to have them sign and he actually was asking the people exactly what they wanted to have him write in it. I got a McCain T-shirt signed which was pretty neat He has a pretty good sense of humor as well which you might not always see on TV

One of the perks of living in NH is the ability to actually meet almost anyone running for President

Dem, Repub or whatever...they are all here

McCain is a very honorable man. But you need to know that for 2008, NO Republican will win. There is a cycle to Presidential elections. Dems will take the White House this year. I was a Political Science Major in college (too many years ago) and I have studied and watched the cycle for far too many years.

Even though the Dems fell down in Congress this last session (they had every opportunity to shine, yet they fought too much amongst themselves) the Dems will win control of the White House and possibly continue to control Congress.

Please know that I am an Independent and have no allegiance to any political party. (My political bent follows that of a Jeffersonian Constitutionalist.)

So I just sit back and watch everything. Since I live in the thick of it (Greater DC area) I have no choice but to hear all the fluby-dust that flies around here.

One last point: I have worked in the upper echelons of two Presidential Campaigns during my life: One Republican, one Democrat. When you see what REALLY transpires behind the scenes (on either side) it will sour your stomach to the whole political process.

Peace,

I have to agree. Even if the greatest Republican candidate ever in the history of the US were to run in the upcoming elections I don't think they would win. My personal opinion is that Bush Jr. left too much of a negative impression of the Republican party on the American voters over his two terms for any Republican candidate to win. I could be wrong but I'm willing to put money on our next president being a Democrat. Whatever Democrat that may be...........Hopefully not Hillary!

In the general election McCain beats any Democrat hands down..problem is if he can get the Republican nomination without the ultra right wing supporting him as he is not your classic Republican

You also have to realize that McCain is very different than Bush and I think most voters can see that difference. Bush could not really sway independent and Democratic voters like McCain can...I was really surprised to see that McCain also draws an awful lot of support from college students (at least here in NH)

I'm having a real hard time believing that someone as polarizing as Hillary could win the Presidency but I've been wrong before...I hope to God I'm not wrong on this(jmho)

My wallet cannot afford her "big" plans

My main problem with Hilary doesn't even revolve around her political views. It is that she has to be one of the most disrespectful politicians of all time. Like when Bush is giving a speech and the camera zooms in on her rolling her eyes or laughing under her breath. Even if a politician doesn't agree with another politician on the same or opposite side I feel that they should at least be respectful of their opinion until a debate between the two when both opinions can be discussed in an open forum. If the person can't even show their fellow politicians respect (especially the president) then I don't want them as our president. I'm not a big fan of two faced politicians or political mud slinging.

I really don't see anyone else in the Republican Party pulling it off...we'll see how the Caucus and the NH and SC primary goes..usually things fall in line after those

The debacle of the past 7 years could probably have been avoided had the Republican machine not engineered Dubya's nomination (and his eventual coup to steal the general election). It's just my personal opinion (and I'm sure everyone will allow one to have a personal opinion) but if either McCain or Gore were elected I doubt that the hell that is the Iraq War would have occured. Would 9/11 have happened? Probably. Would the response have been different? Certainly.

At this point, however, what's been done has been done. We cannot go back in time to unravel the mess the current Administration created and unfortunately whoever is elected will have to deal with the Iraq buzzsaw which will have even more dire long-term implications.

Who is best suited to deal with all of this? Again...my opinion...I believe it is Senator McCain.
