why cover up your licence plate on the internet?

ah yes everyone makes good points. i mean i noticed it the other day when i put a picture up i noticed i forgot that my plate was in one of them. so it made me wonder all that stuff.
i say i do care but dont care at the same time. like everyone said. theres plenty of crazy people at the light next to you. i mean what stops them from righting it down and later coming to kill you or something horrible like that.
i mean when i have kids. then hell yeah ill cover them plates up on the internet.
its just some being paranoid and what not. what about the personal plates with names and such on them
i know theres a few members who make that there sig. so is there ways to find people by those plates?
