2.2 resonator can size?

My exhaust broke on the flange where the pipe from cat connects to resonator. I’m not with the car so can’t measure it myself. My question for anyone that might have the answer is how long is the resonator can? I’m going to cut the can right off the pipe and put a pipe in its place. The pipe I’m planning on picking up today is 1-3/4id by 18 inches long. I’m pretty sure that’s longer than the can but hoping someone can confirm that. Thanks.

The resonator is 4” in diameter and 14 “ long and 1 3/4 OD pipe

18” of 1 3/4 ID pipe and clamps should work

The 2.4 resonator is 25” long and 2 1/4 in OD

thanks for that. A pipe at the parts store is probably only going to have one end of the pipe as ID right? I’d need to get a coupler for the other side? I was thinking about getting one of those length of flex tubes 2inch to fit over the 1-3/4 od pipe. I don’t want to have to go back and forth if it doesn’t fit. I’m sure it’s a stupid question but if rather be sure.

My thoughts:
A.) the resonator is there for a purpose not just for cosmetics
B.) flex is probably a bad idea in that position
C.) having it welded in is a better option than clamps
D.) the stock parts at stores will vary
E.) Anybody that has a welder could make a quick job of it, probably cheaper than you think

A piece of 1 3/4 ID will be same at both ends , some parts palaces have a loaner plan for a pipe expanding tool.
