With good batteries it is hard to say how long they will last. Hot and cold both have their effects but the worse is overcharging of your charging system. Most batteries lives are cust short by systems with regulators that are in bad shape or failing.

In the case of an OE Battery don't fix it if it ain't broke. I have had most Delco's go at least 8 years with no issue and many go even more. I had one that was in my Fiero last 17 years and I only changes it then as it would crank slow if it sat for a few months.

The other think that kills a lot of batteries is the fact many people fail to tie them down. In oder cars where trays have rusted away they just let them bounce. THis will short a plate pretty fast.

Batteries are not like they used to be and they are very good units anymore. Better materials have given them much better life. Time lines companys give are usally worst case as they want them to go longer than advertised.

My wifes 06 has 90,000 miles. I tested it at the shop and it was about 100 cca less than it was stamped. Went ahead and replaced it, thought that was better than a stranded wife.

how do I change the battery? were is it located? I have a 2009 hhr panel van. it has about 70,000 thousand miles on it without any major problems. it just started turning over slowly recently. (this is also my first time posting here at the forum) Thanks

The battery is located in the rear under the cargo and spare tire covers. Battery's today work one day and not the next.....

Welcome 09Panelvanman. No offense, but you don't know where your battery is? Guessing you haven't seen your spare tire or jack either. All of these are in the compartment under the back floorboard. Access will be by going through the back hatch.

I pre-emptively replaced the battery in my 2007, last June, as it tested ok, but not great, plus we were going to be on the road for two months in our motor home towing the HHR, and I did not want to have to replace it on the road. When you do replace it, be sure you get the right one, with the external vent connection.

My 08 HHRSS battery died last night at 46,000 miles. Never gave any indication it was going, just clicked and relays chattered. Charged, worked right after but dead this morning. Everyday used, I am suprised at the short life, the one in my 03 is still going strong (knock, knock), been getting about 8-10 yrs from the other Delco's.

In Florida batteries just die from the heat and my 06 battery died at 81K miles. It threw all sorts of codes from low voltage. I had to put my charger on the battery to get it to start and take it to my mechanic and replace the battery.

When I was living in upstate NY, my car's battery would just start getting weaker and weaker before dieing.
