Are you talking about the BLEND door or the MODE door or RECIRC door? The blend door does not control fresh/recirc the recirc is "Normally Off".
Don't believe everything you read.

The recirculator actuator far right side under dash behind glove box.

Just out of curiosity I contacted the chevy stealership to get a quote on having it repaired. I also asked my daughter if any of the mechanics at her work do work on the side reasonable... If I had a garage ( do have 2 car but full of crap from the move ) Id pull the dash myself but would be slow to get done with my injuries ( spinal ) so, Ill see if I may get a deal or under recall... who knows, fingers crossed LOL

Recalls are for safety issues. I don't think HVAC is really safety related.

So getting startled with a loud bang isn't a safety issue? Ill see what the dealer says with a little convincing that it should be a recall or something? worth a try anyways.

Thanks, IF I decide to tackle it, the actuator is only $45-$50 at the parts store. Im going to see if it can be accessed any other way, watching videos of various issues, it looks that its accessable with the airbag or side dash cover removed? Im gonna get out early in the morning while still cool-er before the sun gets on the car and see if its possible without taking the whole dash out, I really need a Haynes or Chilton manual which is fairly cheap ( I usually get one for every car I own ) just haven't yet for this one. But Ill do a write up with pics if I dig into it. Just need to figure out where the airbag screws are located and get it out safely.

Disconnect the battery negative cable for 30 minutes prior to starting work to allow the airbag system to discharge.
try taking the top of the dash off there are screws on each end under the A pillar moldings and you take out the upper cubby box 2 Phillips , the rest are 7 mm head screws.

But first , pop off the end cap of the dash board, to see what you can see.

Pulled that cover, theres a bracket with limited access BUT the actuator is much further back towards the windshield grrrrr, Ive seen some vids that the whole thing needs disassembled to access, dealer wants $1050 to do it NOPE ! Waiting on my daughter at her dealership for one of the mechanics who does work on the side to see what he says, until then Im going to go get a Haynes and read up on it a little better. Not sure, but Im hoping removing the console and then just the bracket bolts on each end if the dash will just roll forwards like the dodge rams do? That would be sweet and the easiest But knowing my luck it wont be LOL
