I was able to get that airbag out by wedging a nylon tool to pop it up all the way around. It's heavier than you are probably thinking. So it takes a good grip to pull it out. You will have to disconnect the wires as well. I took the right side panel at the floor to access up through the side. My blend door actuator was not screwed down. There was a tab to pull back to loosen it and then.use a long flat head screwdriver to pry it off. A lot of acrobatic moves are needed to get up in there above the glove box. I struggled greatly trying to get the new one up the back side facing the right direction and always needing to turn it after you got in the general area. Finally I realized I could drop it on through the top relatively easy. You definitely need a good light source to see back in there. Popping it back in place was easier than I thought. But attaching the wires back was more than challenging.
I'm pretty confident my arms and fingers are smaller than most of yours...I struggled to get up in there. But I just didn't want to take the entire dashboard out. The process still tool me half a day to accomplish. And I only suffered minimal bruising.
Hopefully you have done yours. It took me 5 months or better to replace mine.

all the sudden mine stopped knocking, , hopefully it fixed itself? but if it starts again.....
I don't think they fix themselves. Maybe it's totally seized up now.
Nope still operates as it should, when I smell Diesel or Rich gas exhause I turn to recirc so it quits pulling outside air or recirc for colder AC since it default to pull fresh air when you start the car... works fine just no more slapping.
In general, a servo motor will keep banging if there is an obstruction. Like a stray acorn or piece of foam or an oak leaf.
well there was a lot of tree leaves in there when I changed the cabin air filter earlier this year... maybe something was still in there and finally broke free?
