The noise has been going on a long while, just got a new set of tires recently, no change.

 

Have you had a chance to change the axel?

 

What size tires are on it?

I have ran this tire size for several years.

 

Man, I had it at the shop today, mechanic said I ordered wrong axle. Said old one has a female end that goes into transmission. I told him it was a stub that comes out. He said no. So I just had him go to the parts store and get one. I was at work and didn't feel like arguing.

 

Welp guys, shop replaced axle, mechanic drove it, said it was definitely driver side bearing. He replaced driver side and I'll be damned, that was the bad one. Crazy though because it was completely ass backwards from how a bad bearing normally behaves when swerving and shifting weight to opposite side. Oh well, lesson learned, if it sounds like a wheel bearing, it probably is! 🤣

So another mechanic who doesn’t know jack! You have to remove the stub shaft! Detroit Axle 986M-AX eliminates the stub shaft and cup seal , I just installed one in my 2011.

Well which part was replaced? The Axle shaft or the wheel bearing (hub)?

 

I told him that but he was adamant that I was wrong. I couldn't believe he didn't know. Maybe he just wanted to get another one just for the mark-up or he thought it would be a pain to get the stub out. Either way, I'm glad to be done with this. And I can send the other axle back.
