Chain or Belt?

Forgive me if this subject has been broached before, as I am new at this.

Does the 2.4L engine use a timing chain or a belt? I have heard two people speculate as to which it is, but no one seems to know for sure.

Your response would be greatly appreciated.

Its a metal chain with plastic and metal guides.

I replaced the head gasket on my 2.2 last winter and since we had to take the engine that far apart anyway I thought it prudent to replace the timing chain and the other chain that runs the water pump all at the same time. I also replaced the water pump and thermostate at that time.

The 2.4 uses the same setup.
