A quick side note for those who use Wix brand filters. Their plant/warehouse in Gastonia NC was totally destroyed following a four alarm fire last Saturday.
Some shortages are expected in the next 60-90 days until inventory is replaced. Thankfully no employees or firefighters were injured.

I don't think they are collapsed - I believe they are twisted during removal, or installation if the o-ring hangs up. Try lubing the o-ring before installation and see what happens.
Re: Fram - imo they are overrated, and having encountered problems with air cleaners that came apart, and finding Fram would not stand behind them, I will only use their products if I am desperate and there is nothing else available.

I agree that they do not look collapsed. Looking at the way they are tweeked would indicate that the material is soft from oil soaking so it gives. With one end stuck in the cap and the other jammed in the block, seems like a fair assessment to me.

I'm glad you never experienced any problems with the Fram.
However, if you check ALL the reliable websites regarding oil filter evaluations, you will not find one that will recognize Fram. In fact, IIRC, Fram is listed on the bottom of the list.
That being said, I'm only mentioning this because you are new here and haven't participated in the previous oil filter discussions. I AM NOT trying to start a filter "war".

Just a suggestion to the OP. Next time you preform an oil change, why don't you install the filter and then before you start the engine and soak it with oil, you pull it back out and see if it has colapsed. At least it would let you know if it is crushing on installation.
