Hi, I'm new to the forum (...and have a problem)

While I'm at it, Happy Thanksgiving to you guys. Don't overstuff... never mind --go ahead, it's only 1 day out of the year!

Anyway, I have a problem with remote locking my car. I bought a new remote about 5 months ago, and the battery is OK (...it still remote starts with no problem).

It won't lock or unlock, and the radio is now starting to play like a 10-cent speaker underwater from time to time.

Anybody have any ideas before it's taken to the dealership?

Thanks in advance, everyone.

Welcome!!!!

Remote: typically problems with the remote are either caused by a broken/poor contact of the metal battery holder where it connects to the circuit board (it can be resoldered easily) - OR, its contacts are dirty inside.

So seeing the remote start works ok, I'd suspect dirty contacts: take it apart and clean the black buttons on the inside of the silicone pad, as well as the areas where they contact the circuit board. Alcohol works well for that. while at it check the battery hold-down metal bracket to make sure it is firmly soldered to the circuit board.

Speakers: Is it all of the speakers that sound garbled, or just one of them?

Welcome to the site, and thanks for the permission to stuff my self.

Whopper gave you some good advice, but be very careful with the battery holder, it doesn't take much to break the solder loose...

Another option on the remote.
You can take the remote to a local auto parts store and test it. Most parts stores will have remote fob tester.
I would try this 1st before taking it apart to check the battery contacts or touch pads.
