maintance on low milage hhr

hi group. I have not been able to drive for the last 14 yrs.I bought my wife an hhr in 09.It now has under 15,000 miles.Being 5 yrs old I now question what needs changing and what is still good]belts,hose coolant ,ect]What says all you maintance guys? thanks phil.

The coolant is due for a change at 5 years, that's not mileage dependent. Dexcool has a service life maximum, and you should stick to it, changing to a regular Glycol based coolant(the green stuff), requires extensive and intensive flushing of the cooling system.

Other than that, the serpentine belt should be inspected for cracking and dry rot, the oil should be changed if it hasn't been done for a while(corrosive contaminants build up over time), and the hoses should be checked for bulging or deterioration.

When you get done with all that, I would adjust them self adjusting rear brakes........

Good point Sam, along with adjusting the rear drum brakes, you should check the front calipers to make sure they're free to move on their slides.

Welcome to the site. I agree with all of the above.
With such low mileage I would add a fuel cleaner to the tank.
I like seafoam but it's your choice.
I would also recommend to have the 5 yr old battery tested. Most part stores can test the battery for you for free.
