replacing thermostat

I have a 2007 HHR 2.2L engine. I have to replace the thermostat, can anyone tell me how to do that? Or will I have to take into the dealer or a shop too fix this? Also does anyone have any idea how much this will cost? Just a ballpark figure will do.

cheap if you do it yourself ,just follow the bottom hose to the back of the firewall on drivers side and you will see it at the end of the hose it like round metal type cover with two bolts ... i think there 10 mil in size just unbolt and pull ,you will lose some coolant but it sits in the housing and replace make sure you take note how it sits in position for the new one ..and do not go cheap on the stat either ,and them top off fluid with dex cool good and save alot of money...

Go with the GM T-stat, it lasted this long, so will your new one!

Get a quality one,make sure it doesn't have the rubber ring on the inside of it. That one from chev will deteriorate from dexcool.

The new ones from Chevy seem to be the ones without the inner rubber. At least on my 2011.

Please stop blaming Dex-Cool for EVERYTHING.

the GM one I just replaced a few months ago did not have the rubber like the original.
