Drain plug in usual place. Under engine. Get a 32 MM socket to remove filter top. Be careful, there is not much room. Loosen top with socket and take off with fingers once loosened. No mess if engine is completely drained!!! Simple. Use 5W-30 Synthetic oil..Mobil one came in the car.

Mobil Clean came in the car, not Mobil 1.

Only Corvettes and certain Cadillac's (CTS-V) get Mobil 1 from the factory.

On the 2.4L engine the drain plug is on the oil pan while the filter is in a cartridge that is accessable from the top. I change my own oil as this HHR is the easist car to work on for oil changes. Mobil 1 from Walmart (5 qt jug $22 and filter fro Auto Zone $5) then less thae 1/2 hr of my time. ($89 at the dealer). I cheap and want to save $$.

I have no problem getting a pan or myself under the car. I have no need to jack up the car to get underneath and I'm a fat old man.

Do you have hydraulic lifts or what???? I had to buy a new smaller oil pan because my normal one wouldn't fit.
