A simple answer would be, no.

Your still not getting your facts right.. ReRead my original post.

It says 3000 miles from the last change ....Not the mileage at the time of an accidental reset.

"I change my oil every 5k miles. So I do not pay attention to the DIC to begin with".

So you don't believe in or follow Chevrolets oil change recommendations ???

I don't quite follow the manual. I am religious about my vehicles and that includes changing oil at every 5,000 miles. It's just what I do.

Personally..... I do my own oil changes on my vehicles... the dealer (stealer) will ALWAYS charge you an arm and a leg for some inferior product.....
In the past I had gone with Mobil 1 or another SHELF brand full synthetic till I got my HHR.... NOW.... I am AMSOIL all the way... I switched to 0-w30,(Suitable as a replacement for GM dexos1™ (supersedes LL-A-025, 6094M and 4718M)I have 4k on in right now and the DIC says 76%... AMSOIL says I can go UP TO 25k with normal service 15k with severe... At around $11 qt its not that much more... and when you start comparing it to Mobil 1... well there is no comparison...AMSOIL blows it AWAY... I was shocked when I found out too....
SO....IMO... DO some research about your oil/synthetics... use what YOU want and are comfortable with...

While I do not do my own oil changes, I too did my research, and am glad I switched to what I did.
