Mine started to rattle at 60,000 miles. found out the left front was wore out all ready. Went on line to autoparts123.com and ordered 2 for the price of one at my local autoparts stores. The new ones come with zerk grease fittings. So I should not never have problems with them again.http://static.1aautoimages.com/parti...00003/main.JPG this is what they look like. Takes about an hour to get off. Takes about 10 minutes to reinstall. 18MM wrench on both sides. If you can not get it lose, just cut the nut, or split the nut. The kit comes with new nuts.

 

One of the best and easiest fixes you can make, the original links were just not up to snuff even as they rolled out the factory doors.

 

Do you have to disable air bags when replacing sway bar links. New ones advise to do so.

good question .....for Mr. Goodwrench, they did mine, used the Moogs, I supplied.

 

Well....replaced pass side link...disconnected battery. Seems tight around the strut perches for antilock sensors maybe. Incredible difference in front end noise.

I was hoping there would be a definitive answer to this question. I'm getting ready to change out the links on the wife's '08 and had been checking. I guess taking the negative cable off the battery would do it, huh?

 

I had mine replaced about 6 months now I find one the rubber is split and curling off so will need to buy another one was hopeing they would last longer and I boughtthe Moogs with the zirc fittings.

My thoughts exactly.

I pulled the wheels off the wife's HHR today and found fairly brand new links. Surprised the daylights out of me. Got to checking the sway bar bushings and, holy crap! There's where my noise was coming from. Bushings were old and cracked - must be the originals. Looks like I'll get them replaced.
