Still not too bad pricing... but I might still just stick with whatever brand-name full syn is on sale at wal-mart when I need it. The price would be about the same.

 

Any engine that states Mobil 1 is the preferred/required oil, I would never use a blend in it. Even if Dexos1 meets GMs standard Mobil 1 is still better.

 

Walmart is selling a five quart container of Mobil 1 for $21.00. I have been running Mobil 1 in everything I drive since 1979, and have never had an oil related problem in any of the vehicles I have owned since.

The following information may be helpful in identifying and avoiding unnecessary parts replacement at the time of Pre-Delivery Inspection (PDI).

Condition/Concern
Technicians may notice during PDI that the oil filler cap on the 2011 vehicles no longer has the "Mobil 1®" logo printed on the cap.

Recommendations/Instructions
Important: DO NOT replace oil filler caps because they no longer display the Mobil 1® logo.

Starting with 2011 vehicle production, GM no longer specifies Mobil 1® as the required oil for the above vehicles. A new oil specification called Dexos I has been created, which a variety of synthetic and synthetic blend motor oils meet.

Note: For additional information on available Dexos 1 oils, please refer to PI0175.

• 2011 vehicles equipped with DOHC V6 engines (RPO LF1 and LLT) are no longer built with Mobil I logo caps. These vehicles should be serviced in accordance with the Dexos I standard.

• SRX models with the DOHC V6 (RPO LAU) engine used the "Mobil 1®" cap from the 2011 start of production to August 1, 2010.

• All Chevrolet Corvette and Camaro models along with the Cadillac DTS, CTS-V and Escalade models will continue to be built with the "Mobil 1®" style cap until November 2010.

 

 

I know that Mobil 1 is good oil, but I've been using Royal Purple 5W30 with Napa Gold filters. Anyone have any thoughts on that combination. Thanks Bill with his orange crate

it is only $21 until september 8th. then it goes up to $26.

there are some good rebates on oil right now. valvoline has a good one at engineguarantee.com through o'reilly. bought 10qts of synpower today at o'reillyfor $3.99 each. i will send in my $25 rebate when i do my next oil change (since you have to send 5 of the rings in).

with taxes, it was 42.29. so, i paid $1.73 a qt with taxes. $8.65 per oil change.

about a week ago i bought a bottle of QS ultimate durability full syn for $19 at wallmart. with a $10 rebate... around $10 including tax.

since i started rebate hunting, i have found that i can often buy syn under $2 a qt.
