stupid question
Perhaps that is why timing "belts" aren't used much anymore. Our little buggers have not one but TWO timing chains. If they ever break, I'll find me a short block and go from there. But then they may just "jump" time, instead of breaking completly and causing valve/piston salad. The dealer wanted $1200 to change the timing belt on my wife's Lexus RX300. I got a private garage to do it for $500.(including water pump)
