I suspect that the blend door acctuator for my car is malfunctioning. My heater stopped working last year. All vents blow cold air. Okay, whatever. As long as the AC works! Well, this year I noticed that the two vents on the driver side blew a bit warmer air while the passenger side is cold. I'm suspecting a blend door issue rather than a clogged heater core or failing AC compressor. But honestly who knows any more. It could be two issues because this car hates me with a passion.

So, I read that there are two blend doors? One that is easily accessible in the driver foot well, and one that requires a complete disassembly of the dash, which is a $1k job. Is that correct? I found the tutorial for replacing the one on the drivers side, but have found no useful info about the other one.
Help me out guys. How should I go about this mess? Thanks.

Removal Procedure

1. Remove the fuse labeled HVAC CTRL (BATT).
2. Remove the knee bolster reinforcement. Refer to Driver Knee Bolster Reinforcement Replacement (Service and Repair) .
3. Remove the instrument panel (I/P) tie bar. Refer to Instrument Panel Tie Bar Replacement (Service and Repair) .




4. Disconnect the air temperature actuator electrical connector.




5. Remove the air temperature actuator screws.
6. Remove the air temperature actuator.



Installation Procedure






Important: The key should be in the OFF position when connecting the electrical connectors to ensure proper calibration.


1. Install the air temperature actuator.

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice (Fastener Notice) .

2. Install the air temperature actuator screws.

Tighten the screws to 2.2 N.m (19 lb in).





3. Install the air temperature actuator electrical connector.
4. Install the I/P tie bar. Refer to Instrument Panel Tie Bar Replacement (Service and Repair) .
5. Install the knee bolster reinforcement. Refer to Driver Knee Bolster Reinforcement Replacement (Service and Repair) .
6. Install the fuse labeled HVAC CTRL (BATT).

Important: Do not adjust any controls on the HVAC control assembly while the HVAC control assembly and actuators are calibrating. If interrupted improper HVAC performance will result.


7. Start the engine and let run for one minute.
