Did a fuel economy run after mods finally
I decided to post this here as it will be seen by more people and may help some? I have installed one of the Gforce chips and a K&N filter with an additional air inlet and a B&M shift improver box. Since getting these done I have been doing mostly around town driving getting 25 MPG according the dash display and the # gallons on fill up. Saturday I finally got to do a fairly good drive at steady speed and while going 65 with cruise on, the dash told me 35.5 MPG. When I bumped speed up to 70, the number dropped to 31.5 so there is a point in there that causes the fuel to change its flow. When I stopped I quickly checked the tube running to the throttle body and it was very cool to the touch which is what you want.

Interesting info....maybe????
The numbers you posted are identical (within 1 or 2 tenths)to what I get on my '06 2.4 auto. The ONLY engine mod I have is the GMPP intake box.
So, I'm not really sure what you are trying to say.

I did some mileage tests driving to/from the school where I teach and at night when there was no traffic the mileage at 65 was 30 MPG maximum. This was before any mods at all. I think a difference in yours is the quality of the gas in AZ as opposed to what we get in CA. Ours has much less combustion power producing ability due to the anti smog stuff so the engine has to work a bit harder than ones in AZ or other states with different gas blends. In actuality, I think the engines vary year to year even though they are the same 2.4L, hidden away from us normal people are slight differences we can not see.
As they say in the ads "your results will vary"

Here are 3 pictures of the intake. First shows the opening just on top of the radiator, the other 2 show the intake hoses. The silver tape is insulating/reflective tape left over from my racing days. If you look closely you will see an insulating plate under the air box made from insulating wrap that was expoxied together and it keeps the heat from the top of the engine out of the air box some.
