49 hood emblems

I'm new to the forum and I have a question. I want to put the 49 suburban emblems on my hood like I've seen on the sight. I would like to know how those of you who used these emblems delt with the curvature of the hood? Did you use extra tape, bend the embem or what? Any help would be appreciated.

I would imagine they are flexible enough to follow the contour of the hood.

Mine are genuine metal emblems and they come from "Brothers Chevy and GMC Classic Truck Parts" The installation requires drilling and backing nuts to hold them on. I used body tape on the lower bar so the letters would stand away from the hood just a little bit. Gives it a great look. Price for mine was about $60 but they are original size and construction.

Thanks for the info. I think I'll order metal emblems from classicparts.com and try to put them on when the weather warms up.

you will have to bend them to fit the curve of the hood, but that is easy.
