Thanks for all of the positive replies! I wasn't so sure how a specific function rack might be received by those that are passionate about the HHR! (as, I am...)

I failed to mention, I was the concept & financial dude for the project, but the actual fab skills & installation were provided by a professional racing chassis builder. I just smiled and paid the tab when it was complete.

asanti: The rack was designed as a permanent platform to attach an adjustable Thule Crossbar System for boats & bikes, as need. So, it's flexible and can be attached anywhere along the fore/aft rails. If I have a single watercraft on the roof, the aluminum rack was designed for that application and has a 60" crossbar placement for canoe or long sea kayak. A plus to the Thule rack, is that it can also be easily removed when not needed.

Here's a better pic of the Thule Crossbar Rack:

Thanks for the interest...

Being that you did the design and concept work on the rack, have you considered marketing it? I think there would be a market for something so well done and stout.

"Nice rack!! You need a stubby antennae."

Man if I've ever heard a bad pickup line, that's it!

So who's gonna try that out first some weekend, any brave unmarried volunteers?
