Full panel conversion???

Has anyone ever done a full panel conversion on an HHR?

If so, anyone have any tips?

I'm hoping to switch the body to a full panel setup, and either modify, or have a new rear gate made up to be split in the middle and hinged at the sides.

The design is a work in progress, and it will get done one way or another, but I was wondering if this is something that's been done before.

Feel free to pipe up!

I don't recall a full panel conversion other that trading in your wagon for a panel. but do go on, and post progress pics

Your going to spend more doing this than it will cost you to just buy a panel.

Someone in the past was working on a barn door setup, but it never got completed.

I kind of figured that would be the case. :/ With the ultimate plans that I have it may be more beneficial to go with buying a panel.

I'm planning to make a mini hearse.

First mods would be replacing the chevrolet badges on front and back with Cadillac ones, remove the HHR badging on the back and replace it with Cadillac ones and find some Cadillac wheels to replace the stockers.

Want to do all black, custom side windows with white curtains, barn door, or side hinge setup, and a miniature hearse floor setup.

I would actually like to make the front end look like a 1950's Cadillac actually, but that will require some extensive body mods. I may have to find a wrecked panel.

If you are going to do all that why not stretch it out some. Make it long.
I like the split hatch idea though.

Gee.... maybe I'll buy badges and turn mine into an Audi. I can even put an LED strip near my headlights and fool everyone

Everyone has their own tastes, and preferences for modification. I respect that my plans may not be of your taste, but there is NO reason to make a comment like that.

In my experience, no one here is in the practice of bashing other people's ideas. I'm certainly not here for that.

If you don't have anything nice to say, say nothing at all.

No need to get all defensive about it. I was making a joke about changing badges.

It's like when people put SS badges on their regular HHR. I have seen many people deliberately bash members on here for that and I take no part in that.

As much as everyone has different taste in things, some things just don't make sense

I have one you could make into a hearse pretty easy, it even has a slide out in the rear to roll out the casket.
