That thing is gorgeous. I don't know that I could make any changes to it...

If you are wanting to add custom side windows then you probably do not need to start with a panel. Just weld the door shut and delete the handles. After removing the windows you can add metal to make the shape of your new window.

I had barn doors on my Yukon back in the day. I really liked those. At least make that happen if nothing else.

I really want to make that happen actually. It should be a fairly easy one to do as well. I know a glass cutter, and a few fabrication guys, so I could buy a few tailgates from a wrecking yard. Nice thing about that? if I screw up one, I have more to do it with.

Got any pictures of your car with the barn doors? I like that idea and would like to see how they appeared.

No pics, just look up Yukons and Tahoes with barn doors and you should be able to see them.

Mine was a 95. I think they might have been standard starting in 96 but not sure. In the 01 and ups they were optional I believe.

Not my pics but here ya go. Top one is a 97 second is 01 to 06? body. They were hard to find pics of so perhaps a better way to say my above post is that they were a more common option in the 95-00 old body and a less common option for the 00 new body versions.

This is a van but might be something you may want to consider.

I think it could be really cool! And I am all for body mods to make your HHR look like other old school GM rides. GM did lots of vehicles off of common platforms back in the day and the HHR is the perfect canvas for re-imagining.

The tri fold door might be a little difficult (plus I have no desire to emulate an Astrovan) I want to do the barn doors because the old delivery vans had them.
