Ever hear of a guy named Powel Crosley Jr.(The Crosley Radio magnate) and the 1939-1952 Crosley car, this particular one is a 1948 Model CC.

They featured a 44 cu in. engine made of copper brazed sheet steel, their sports model called the Hotshot was successfully campaigned in SCCA racing.

This is a 1951 Hotshot, a 1950 model won the index of performance at the 1950 Six Hours of Sebring endurance race.

You are a walking encyclopedia Mike! How do you have so much automotive trivia stored in your gray matter and still perform the duties of your job? LOL
That is a cool little car and I do recall seeing those before.. Vaguely.... Very Vaguely!

Hi

No one but a Crosley collector would have known what that was.

The engine blocks of these Crosley's were made of stamped steel. One piece stamped on top of another. Cylinders were sleeved. Collectible but not very successful, even though it had a 13 year run.

I had a 1952 Crosley Wagon when I was 15. Given to me by a man who just didn't want it anymore. Fun to play with but that engine was a mess to work on. I finally gave it to someone else and they kept it a while and then....

There were plenty of quirks with this car. The wheels were 12 inch on quarter lyptical springs in the back. The brakes were 4 wheel disc "mechanical" brakes. No hydraulics. The pads were leather covers over the steel. If you got going to fast and hit the pedal too hard, the leather covers would pop off and the noise was LOUD. Three speed manual tranny and very large headlights for the size of the car. I think we got up to 60 mph in that thing a few times.

Really sweet Ben!

They sure have the right look, at first glance I thought you'd grabbed up a set from a Buick Super.

Thanks Boydie! Yours are cool too... I think they have a Salt Flats look to them.

Mike, I thought the same thing to... I'm thinking about having my buddy with the vinyl sign shop do up some old school Buick split letter font in brushed stainless look vinyl. It would be kind of a Ghost image of the original.
