Moving this to the top of my mod list

I must do this! I purchased a similar grill for the opening in my Miata and if memory serves me, it was $20-$30! (current price $32.95 miatamania.com) It does the same although may be a bit thicker and has a piece of rubber trim circling around the entire grill which I may add to mine when I do the HHR.
I also did a search on ebay for grill mesh and got a number of hits 10" x 3' for ~ $15.00 or 3 pieces for ~$24.00. Seems to come in a few colors too..
Now to pick a color.. I have a 2007 Imperial Blue Metalic which looked much lighter in the brochure and web page! In any case it reminds me of the midnight blue" color. I can do this in bright (leave as is) or paint it black so it is less noticeable, or heck go wild with color.. We'll have to see..

Cool Cheap, affective, stylish.......

This is an awesome upgrade. i bought the part today and put it in, which took maybe 5 minutes tops to cut the piece. Definantley one of my favorite mods so-far.

I am familiar with those gutter guards you used. I happen to put some on my house 5 years ago, and painted them black to match my roof. The only thing that rusted is those clips. The paint stayed on real good, and I used rustoleum gloss black paint. I would have never thought to use them as a grill, but that was before I was an HHR owner. Great Idea !

Question Snow

Great idea, don't get me wrong but how are these holding up in the snow? I realize it's no big deal to replace one but I'm wondering if mashed up expanded metal might do more damage than the snow.
Has anyone plowed through those foot high hills left by the plows (with or without the guard)?

All the snow you get up in Ottawa and they don`t no how to plow a road I have never seen foot high hills after the plow other than in a driveway.I would not hit anything with the front end below freezing you will destroy the front plastic.

Hiya folks. I was reading this at work and thinking that this is almost a design flaw. Was wondering how do you get to the backside of the bumper to install? Is it accessible through the hood or do you have to crawl underneath?
