Question, Removing Running Boards ...???
Question, Removing Running Boards ...???
I am considering removing the running boards from a 2011 1LT.
Will I be able to remove them and not have screw and bolt holes or other blemishes showing when I finish ???
The car is Brand New.
Any thoughts on approx. what the new boards are worth including any attaching hardware that I remove with them ???

I cant answer to your question. But I will say, if you do, have 3M paint guard patches to apply to the rear wheel well on either side of the hhr above where the running boards were to avoid paint chipping by stones.
Hoping Splash Guards and 3M would suffice.
Wife has to step over running boards to get in and out. Not impossible but a bit of an inconvenience.
Also we get snow in the winter and read some comments on snow and ice issues with the boards.
Seems like the HHR is just a Natural Rock target .. Front end, Windshield and all.
Thats kinda how my Astro Van was too.
You don't want to remove them...
Mine doesn't have them-didn't come with them. Where my protective shielding is (that clear 3M junk), you can see all the debris EMBEDDED into it. I am unable to get it out, no matter how well I scrub. Looks like total ass.
Get SS rocker covers or really good mud flaps.

Won't be picking it up till next week sometime and I'll need some time to chew on it.
I know your wife has concerns about stepping over the boards Silverfox, and I can identify since my left leg has been severely limited in its mobility since an accident in '99. But given that the lack of boards would lead to unacceptable rock chipping and damage, I have grown used to just kinda grabbing my leg and "helping" it into the truck.
Honestly I don't really even think about it unless I have the '06 which is board-less because my wife likes the look, and then I still have to "help" my leg over the high door sill that HHR's possess. I think if you can find an HHR without boards and have your wife try getting in and out, she might not notice any appreciable difference.
