Question Rear side windows

How hard would it be to eliminate the side rear windows like the AA5's or
Panels ? What I mean by that is to make them look like the AA5's or Panels.

How good are your welding skills?

Unless you're really inclined to get into a pretty involved conversion, or paint/overlay the rear windows on a wagon HHR, your best bet is to start looking for a panel or an AA5 that fits your budget.

I see. I'm still entertaining the thought right now to try it. I love the SS versions of each, more than the 6 window version. With only 200 or so of each, it's slim pickins. There are so many more of the wagon version. I may have to obtain a base model Panel and create something other than an SS. I'm still working it all out right now. Maybe a wrap could work. ????

The wrap would be the easiest way to go if you can get the color to match it would hide the window.

Or, just custom cut a piece of metal or plastic and glue it in place of the glass. The glass is just held on with butyl and 4 registration pins.

I'm digging the cover the window idea. Maybe a combination of covering it and wrapping it to give it the smooth transition I'm looking for could work. Thanks for the info. Should the window be removed or just cover it ?

You might just go to a auto salvage yard and buy some doors without the windows. Hopefully you could get them same color.

I like the Panels better than all those windows. I may go with a wrap to eliminate the looks of them or even visit some salvage yards.

That was a pretty cool DIY. For me, the smoothness of the side panels on the Panel and AA5 makes the whole thing work.

I'm still in the thought process right now of actually obtaining an HHR. What form is still up for grabs. I love the SS package with all the extra HP, handling, and badges. ( price is a little high though ) The Panel is the right body style for me. ( SS package is rare to say the least ) The AA5 is also very cool looking. Maybe taking an SS and converting it to a Panel or taking a Panel and making it something other than an SS. Any thoughts are welcome at this point. All I know is the back window has to go if I get a wagon.
