Side Adhesives in front of rear wheel wells

I don't even know what to call these other than stickers, but what are the adhesive panels (stickers) on the side of the HHR in front of the rear wheel wells? Mine are dinged up pretty good and on a black car it really stands out. Can these be replaced, removed, etc, is there regular body paint under those adhesives?

they are there originally for that reason exactly. to take the dings so the metal door doesn't. if you do remove them i would recommend getting the running boards for the car($400+). they are just 3M double sided taped on if i remember correctly, but running boards are the only better looking option. or extremely low mud flaps. If you replace them, they will just get messed up again....one other suggestion is a junk yard?

I think it's called rock guard. Clear 3m tape. You can buy it in various sizes at most auto parts stores. I had a ton of this stuff on my old 300z, much cheaper through parts store then Nissan.

I had mine replaced under warranty, must be a PITA. Left car all day and went to pick up they only had one side done. They apologized with a free oil change, said they were going to send to collision shop to do other side. The side they did do I could see the old adhesive behind clear film, so that had to be done over again. It is body paint behind them. I had added boards and was tempted to leave them off but went for the extra protection. If applied properly and maintained they're hardly noticeable.

Are the two part numbers above the verticle piece only for the rear door or would that also include the smaller horizontal piece located on the plastic rocker panel?

Recently ordered a 12" X 72" piece of the 3M 8mil/.20mm clear stone/chip guard from Amazon @ aprox $9.50 sq ft. This stuff is a PITA to cut (all the further I've got on this project) due to it's excessively elastic quality when compared to vinyl. My understanding is it requires hard squeeging to apply without bubbles and the crux of that is it will also distort or stretch if improperly squeeged. It can be controled during application with moderate heat.

In hindsight, I should have explored a paintable rubberized product prior to having this area repainted.

I'm not sure toolbender, it should, but I'd call Gm Parts Giant or your dealer's parts counter to double check before ordering. There is no separate part number for the film on the rocker panel.
