"Tacky factor"?

I've been kicking around ideas for external lighting, and would like input from you guys if it'd be cheesy or not.

On the front, I'd install 5 or so amber LED's on the lower black "scraper" under the bumper.
On the rear, 5-7 red LED's, flush mounted into the part of the bumper that's perpendicular to the ground, shining on the bottom part of the bumper (which a glow would be visible to those behind).

Would be different for sure. I'll reserve my judgement until after I see it

Honestly, I think it's kind of hard to picture.... It could be tacky, but I think if done right it might look pretty good.

yea, i probably should have take a pic of where i'm thinking of adding lights, or drawn it up.
Honestly, the rear idea just came to me today while i've had the front on my "to do" list.
Just waiting for things to warm up!

External lighting that isn't headlight/fog light/tail lamp related, will be tacky.

Probably on the back could look cool. About to place on the bumper scraper... It will look very tacky. I would place them on the headunits, on the bottom. Is just an opinion... You have the last word.

Tacky like beauty is in the eye of the beholder as they say. Its your HHR, do whatever makes you happy or that you think is cool, if you don't like it, or you stand back and think "Oh crap, what did I do"...you can always take them off and try again. Just avoid the Hello Kitty seats covers I saw in a car tonight outside the McDonalds, blech!

External lighting is so 90's. It was just a passing fad that is only in real use with some segments in the car culture.

This is the issue with doing some mods. THey may be cool and neat today but in 10 years you look back and think what the heck was I thinking. Trust me I have been there and done that my self.

Things like the Lambo doors are cool for some now but in the future when the doors refuse to shut right and they can't get replacment parts they will wish they had left them alone on many cars. Even Lambo does not do the doors anymore.

The trick to a well done car is to mod it in ways that will not fade in time. It can and has been done often as it just takes a good eye and judgment. Good car builders do it all the time.

Tacky as can be. Just look at those Fast and Furious movies.

Undercar lighting is ok as long as you can't see the lights, just the glow.

And for cheeses sake, put them on a switch so you can turn them off while driving.
