custom painted dash
#12
thanx..this isn't really a too hard of job for removal...a few bolts here and there but the trick is the airbag...it has to tilt towards you as it comes up and out(kinda 2 guy job)more akward than anything and also this dash was put in when the window was out..2 bolts that secure harness to underside of dash took some reverse finagling with a pair of needlenose visegrips...sanded the heck outa this to remove all the texture in the plastic...surprise surprise....the cover for airbag isn't plastic!!more of a very hard leather like composite that doesn't sand well...and for those worried about the airbag..Ive banged it around plenty...vibration from sander...just be safe if your gunna do this...disconnect EVERYTHING!!..job to remove took about 1.5 hours and to remove all the dash you also need to unbolt the shifter..4 good coats of body shop quality high build primer..alot more sanding...3 hours to complete the airbrush wood effect(done by myself of course)...now the fun part of wetsanding and installing all my gear..Ill post more pics as I also modified the waterfall to hold my air pressure gauges and switches...I can honestly say I have around 20 hours into this so far..cost of material so far less than 70$..if your gunna try sanding out this texture use a very good DA sander and disks...
