Custom Steering Wheel...And A Question

I FINALLY was able to find a place that will build me a custom steering wheel and in case anyone else needs similar work done here is a link....They will not only rebuild/restore a wheel you have, but can build one to your specs from scratch.

Select Steering Wheels and Wood Dashes - Craft Customs

Now...for a question I think I already know the answer to but want to be sure about...

My plan is to buy another steering wheel out of a junk yard to have the custom work done on it as I don't want to have the HHR down for several weeks where I cant drive it. My current wheel has switches/buttons on both sides, there are radio controls on the right side of the wheel and all the other steering wheels I've looked at so far don't have those. My guess is all my stuff, the air bag, the switches, etc will transfer over to any HHR wheel, but I just want to be sure. I can find bare wheels for about $20.00, and I've been quoted $299.00 to refurbish it in two tone leather with about a week and a half to two weeks to complete the job so I guess what I'm looking for is any tips on what year wheels will fit and if there are any other things to consider. I have a guy in a local body shop that does a lot of custom work that can R&R the wheels and switch all my stuff over from my current wheel to the custom one...I just want to be sure I don't spend three hundred bucks on something I cant use...

Do you have an upgraded leather covered wheel, standard on the 2LT models... or 1LT with the upgraded radio factory option? Both have controls on both sides.

Have you looked on E Bay?

I have changed a std. 2LT wheel for a upgraded 1LT wheel to get rid of the leather cover and the controls fit just fine.

All years/models are the same, except for color/material. Switches and harness transfer. Some wiring positions changed.

Also wheels from some other gm cars work. I'm using a leather wheel from a g6 with red illumination.
