People seem to forget that the HHR is classified as a truck. I see more HHR's with roof racks and ladders and company logos than any other vehicle besides actual trucks. And that's including off-roading capable suv's with the heavy duty cargo rack on top.

The cargo area is meant to be used to haul things.

For the rear seats, you can easily stuff fabric under the plastic cover on the back. For the storage cover, just cut a piece exactly to match and use some spray glue.

I use them as a truck, but there are times when you don't want the sticky fingered people seeing what's in the back. And they can look in even with the privacy glass, criminals have x-ray vision when there is something they want.

Hey prod, did you ever get a chance to check out the cover on the Caliber?

Ok I gave it a try with the one from the caliber. Its meant to slot into channels that arent present in the HHR, so I wouldnt call it secure. I tied it up to the seat release posts. The bar is a little wide, general size is good. It doesnt latch, but it looks possible to secure it in some way to the top rear cargo hooks to keep it extended. Could be a neat project, but I still like the hard shelf.

Thanks for checking out the fit of the cover prod, and for posting up some pics.

As we say in the South, I might could do somethin' with that.

I fervently pray that all of the K-cars have been retired. I never figured out what was wrong with the previous Valiant & Dart slant sixes.

Not a darn thing, they just got trampled in Chrysler's headlong rush to go with smaller FWD cars. One of the best engines ever made, smooth, simple, and hard to kill.
