Remove the interior in the cargo area?

Anyone ever reconfigure the rear cargo area? I"m thinking of removing a lot of the plastic behind the rear seat to open up more cargo area. Any thoughts? Anyone done anything custom?

Jim

when i wired up my subs in my first hhr i took most of it apart. the first part you remove is the section where the door latches. remove the two bolts that hold the cargo net too. then it all starts coming off from there. the two rectangular storage bins come out too. the sub enclosure has quite a few bolts and it wont look right just hanging there. if you do decide to remove all of it, the spare tire and battery will be exposed. not to mention it doesnt look right. but if you remove the spare tire, you should have a little more space if you dont mind the eyesore part.

I agree with badass, you won't gain much room at all, and stripped of the interior panels....its a real eyesore back there.

The picture says it all. I was more thinking the way the trunks from the 70's and 80's looked, simple and clean. I had planned on covering some of the exposed with sound deadening and maybe something a little custom but nevermind. To many gizmos and whatchamacallits back there.

Thanks!

do you happen to have any more pics of the emptied cargo area? i want to install my subs in the rear glass area, but i am looking on how to secure the boxes, and havent taken mine apart yet. I need all of my floor area, as she is currently my dd and i haul my tool with me everywhere. thanks in advance robert

Angrae32. It's a 3 year old thread and Andy2.0 hasn't logged on here since 2013.
Don't be surprised if he doesn't respond.

Maybe try searching through our Audio section for a picture that would help you.
