This might be a dumb question but:

Will illegal window tint void the HHR's warranty? And what effect does illegal tint have on insurance?

My 06 has the same info.

No and none that I know of. Just more likely to get pulled over and given a ticket is all that you risk

It probably won`t void your warranty, but as you get tickets, you insurance will rise.
Most people I see with additional tint, tend to have dents in the side if the car, visibility/perception is reduced, hench, damaged side from bumping walls/posts/other cars, but they look good (although you can`t see them ).

Also the stock tint to the glass is a "smoke" to the glass and does not offer the same UV protection as aftermarket window tinting. I added 35% tints OVER the factory smoke glass and the difference in the AZ sun was astounding. MUCH cooler! Visibility with the 35% over stock isn't too bad either. Enough of a difference front to back to not get pulled over for tint and not "too" dark in the rear for nighttime vision.

Kansas is 35% on front doors and any % on back windows. Also any % can be used up to 4" on top of windshield. Gotta love it.

Missouri laws state 35% on the front also. I opted for 20% and the tint shop did it, but gave me no receipt or no guarantee. However, they have been in business for many, many years and I've had other cars at their shop for tint so I had no problem with not getting a guarantee on it.

BB...

If you are speaking of "tickets" for the tint violation, I don't believe insurance companies raise rates for equipment violations. In most states they are considered "non-moving" violations.

But, improper/illegal tint good provide a basis for other moving violation tickets.

Could be wrong, but that is my recollection from years ago.

I've always had my windows tinted, to whatever Arizona Laws allow, starting with my new 1980 Civic. The only time we were stopped was back in '81/'82 by the Highway Patrol on our way home from California. We were only a couple of miles from the Arizona border when this A**hole stopped us and gave me a ticket for the tinted front windows! At that time I didn't even know anything about California tint laws and I was rather pissed for something so trivial. I also wanted to mention that I've never bumped into any walls, posts, or other cars because the windows are tinted!!?? Must be something else going on there.
