I'm starting to wonder if this thread should be changed to no school.

Speaking of OLD!

HATS OFF to this '49 Suburban I found online...mmmmm, sweet!

By the way, what's a RALLY WHEEL?? My neighbor says I could just go to a junkyard, buy old steel RALLY WHEELS and put a moon hubcap on them and a modesty panel that's paint-matched. Does he know what he's talking about???

The poll wasn`t as odvious as you thought, now you`re even saying you were talking about Chrome or not. How could that be odvious without a visual?
Why do you continue with this line of conversation? I don't have to try and understand anything you are trying to say and as far as the poll goes, others got it. Post or don't post! Think of it as you please! You seem driven to provoke or to be arguminative. Why?

The wheels have to be the proper bolt pattern, and I would doubt that you would find them in a junk yard. Your best bet would be to get steel wheels from someone who replaced their stock rims with aftermarket wheels and go from there. I believe several members have already done that. Check with Songman and I believe Oneton.

One thing, I hate that the poll is before you actually know what the subject matter is, so you don`t really get a honest poll. The voter is really voting ,to see who the candidate is...
Should`ve just voted, Didn`t have any pics to post, Great poll (by the way )
Have a nice day

Not knocking the poll Holmes, but "design" (not functional but aesthetic) is, as the "old" saying goes, "In the eye of the beholder."

some of the questions of the people trying to understand what you meant are justifiable, at least to me.

The first thing I did when I got a '56 chevy in 1965 was to take off all the emblems on both the hood, trunk and if I remember right, the rear fenders. The 56 had a lot of chrome, around the windows and of course going from the back to the front on the sides. I even took off the airplane on the hood. That was 41 years ago and I wasn't the only one doing it by a long shot, so it can't be new school.

I think this is more about how one sees the world. I also think that was what you were really asking, shrouded in the cloak of a question about car design. Some see it in Black & white, right & wrong, good & bad........ some see it in a kazillion colors and from a kazillion perspectives, and to me, neither one of those is right or wrong, just different.

But then again, thats just my opinion...

I guess I like both since either one is totally subjective.

Cheri, Rally wheels are the sport steel wheels that manufacturers used to make that had a chrome center cap and in most cases a chrome beauty ring. The term rally wheel usually goes along along with muscle cars and other sporty cars from the late 60s and through the 70s.

This is a rally wheel that you would have found on Chevys in the 70s.

Unfortunately you can't just go to a junkyard and buy old rally wheels because the bolt pattern is wrong, as is the offset in most cases. Do a search for Moon Eyes or Wheel Vintiques to see some of the other conversations about getting an old school look on wheels.

Black Beauty, you can PM me if you have any more questions about anything I have said in this post.
