08 HHR won't start?

Ok so we were working on installing an alarm and everything was working fine until we found out that the alarm brain was defective. We removed everything and now the car won't start. It'll turn over like it's going to start but it won't start? Is there some sort of fuel pump shut off that could have been activated some how or something? We removed everything we put in and it's exactly the way it was before we did anything. Any help much appreciated thanks!

Oh forgot the DIC also says Engine Performance Lowered or something like that when the key is turned over.

Did you check all your fuses?

I haven't yet, we had to leave just figured I'd get some idea's. The rear door doesn't seem to open now either so I'm guessing at least one fuse is blown.

We just checked all the fuses, and we saw nothing immediately obvious with them when we pulled every fuse out and looked it over. We also removed the positive battery for 10 minutes to see if that would reset anything. We also tried to turn the key for like 10 minutes then immediately turn it over, and it doesn't kick over after that. We cannot figure out the problem, I double checked all the wires, and they are all plugged in! If we can't get answers from here or over the net, we're forced to tow it to the garage and get charged to fix something...

from a google search

"passlock may be active" Check to see if the security light is flashing with the key on after you try to start. If it is flashing leave the key on until it stops then turn it off and try to start it

If the theft system is activated a 30 minute relearn may fix. If not the system will have to be reset by a dealership. If you turn the key on and the theft icon stays on solid you can try the relearn. See this thread for the instructions.

Well the security light stays on for about 15 seconds after you turn the key on. After that it goes off... It's turning over just like it's going to start normally but it seems like there is no fuel getting to the engine which makes me think it's the passlock system. Think we're just going to have to put the dash pieces back on and get AAA to tow it to the dealer.... I sure hope they don't charge much. Especially seeing as he's had the car only a week.

On the other hand does passlock usually lock out the back hatch? When we push the button I can hear the relay tripping but it won't unlock the hatch. Maybe it's a safety feature so a thief can't get to the battery?

Someone mentioned it could be the BCM. I was curious does anyone have any idea what the dealer would charge for a BCM? I know that the system in the HHR is pretty much identical to the Cobalt. I've found Cobalt and HHR BCM's anywhere from 40-140 online. I imagine the dealer will try and charge something like 500 and then whatever they decide to charge for labor.

Have you considered trying what ChevyMgr posted?? What do you have to lose other than 30 minutes.
